Now 37 years old, El-Sayed Lashin has enjoyed the delights of success and has endured the desperation of defeat as a member of the Egyptian team.
Crowned African champion in Yaounde in 2010, veteran of many a campaign, he was crucial to the bronze medal gained at the Times Property 2013 World Team Cup in Guangzhou, China.

Very much the senior member, El-Sayed Lashin believes at the forthcoming 2018 Men’s World Team Cup, to be staged in London from Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th February, that Egypt can repeat the achievement of Guangzhou five years ago.
Preparing for the prestigious event, recently the Egyptian outfit has been practising in Cairo and will also compete in next week’s Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Hungarian Open.
El-Sayed Lashin explained:
“We have been preparing for the World Team Cup at a national team camp at the Cairo Stadium; most of the team members are also competing at the Hungarian Open.
Yes, I believe in the Egyptian team because we now have higher ranked players that can help us achieve good results. In London, we are all looking forward to achieving the same results just like we did in China 2013. We all have trust and confidence in one another and inshallah we will achieve good results in London
My personal target is to help the team to win and do as much as I can do for the team. For sure our first goal is qualify for the main draw and a place in the quarter-final.
We hope to play well in the tournament. I played before at London 2012 Olympic Games, we all played well there then and inshallah we will achieve good results this time around.”
